An Impromptu BIRD Feeding Station

I am away from the Red House and in New Jersey visiting an artist's garden this week.  Radhika, the owner and gardener, has several birdfeeders in the yard, and the birds and various wildlife flock to them.  However, in preparation for hurricane Irene, she took them all down.

Not the food!!  Can't we negotiate this?
After the hurricane, she found a small container of birdseed and put it on the deck right outside the breakfast nook for any hungry birds that might be around after the storm.
Ooo, what's this?
Someone else managed to find it...

and spill it.

Who, me?
The bird didn't mind, though, and happily ate it off the porch railing.

We heard there was a party over here?

It was so much fun watching all of the wildlife happenings right outside the big windows next to the breakfast nook, that the gardener decided to make it into a more permanent party place for the birds.  Start with a garden column, place a bird feeder on it, group some of those potted plants that had been placed on the deck out of harm's way from the hurricane and viola!  Instant bird feeding station!

Well, as you can see, the impromptu BIRD feeding station was quite the hit of the whole neighborhood..

Maybe if I pretend I'm a plant, she won't notice me...think plant, think plant.. foodfoodfood!..no,no, think plant...
